EASY WALL ART...& CHEAP TOO

How easy is that!! If your anything like me, I like to switch up my home decor every so often & with this trick it's easy peasy!  Just find a wrapping paper that suits your taste, pick a basic frame & your done :)

SILVERWARE TRAY MAKEOVER....

I have this white silverware tray...drives me crazy!! When I first bought it, I thought clean lines, modern.  Now, years later its dirty; I really don't get it because all the silverware goes in clean.  What IS that silverware doing in there?

Anyway, I always forget to buy another one even though it's a constant reminder every time I open that drawer, Yuck! I've gotta get a new one.  Drives me nuts!! 

So today is the day, I'm not going to go nuts (at least over that anymore).  I decided to glam up my tray & give my silverware a little beach towel so to speak :)

 It's not perfect but it took me about 5 minutes & a little duck tape to end that frustration and I'm lovin' that!!

Tea Bag Pretty Tags diy...

This is a repost but since Mother's Day is just around the corner, I thought this might be another idea for you :) 

...and these little tea bag pretty tags are good for just about any holiday or occasion.

I got this idea from the gorgeous blog,Hank and Hunt. She made incredible pom pom teabags.

I added my own spin to her idea & made these.

  

How easy is that!  Just grab some scrap paper &/or duck tape, glue dots and stick away. My first ones, the string was a little long & dangly so just wrap the string around the original tea bag tag before you add your cute little tag. (if you want - you can even reuse the tags when your done, thanks to glue dots)

I think they will be a perfect gifty for our very sweet tea lovin friend, Judy.

The possibilities are truly endless, I can't wait to make more! Thanks to all of you for inspiring me daily, love ya!!

FOR THE BIRDS...Chirp Chirp

This is a fun spring time crafty that the birds will really enjoy!  And since Easter is right around the corner why not give them a little egg or two?

I got this great idea from FAMILY FUN magazine (I just love that mag!) and decided to glam my eggs a bit by giving it a little food coloring, peanut butter and strings for hanging. (unfortunately, I couldn't find the recipe on their website, but they have so many great ideas, check it out if you don't already get the magazine in the mail).

Recipe for about 12 eggs

21/2 cups of birdseed

2 packets of prepared, unflavored gelatin (added to 1 cup hot water)

Food coloring (optional)

Peanut butter (optional, couple of spoonfuls)

Mix ingredients and then press into plastic Easter eggs, tuck a string in and close egg.  

Let dry over night or until dry (mine took a little longer, it was really rainy & damp so maybe that's why)

You really have to mold and press these things - perfect for kids who love to get messy! 

To add the string

I had some eggs that opened horizontally so that was easy just filled one half of egg, then placed string and topped with more mixture.  

If your eggs are the other kind, just fill and kinda press string in or use a pencil to make a hole, place string then cover up.

This crafty is super messy - especially if you are going to add food coloring so wear gloves if you don't want your hands to be stained for ever! (I have stained hands :)

Hide and tie up your eggs, the birds will just love their Easter Egg Hunt. :)

NAPKIN RINGS...EASY DIY!

I grew up with a Mom that just loves being fancy and has no problem using china for breakfast or pizza. 

Even though I'm an adult, I still feel like a little, giddy girl when I go for a glam table setting.  Ya know it really is super fun to set a fancy table to up the ordinary meal; and that means busting out the napkin rings!  The thing is I didn't have napkin rings until today. 

I came up with the idea for these easy napkin rings as I took the last paper towel off the roll, not having another roll, this is where an idea was born :)

It just takes 3 things & a few minutes to make: 
1-3 paper towel rolls 
Contact paper
Scissors


How to:
I cut each napkin ring 2 inches (5 per roll plus a little left over)
Size up the contact paper, snip & roll.

WINTER ICE BAUBLES.... easy DIY

This is about as easy & pretty as it gets on a winter day!

Fill balloons with water, food coloring, little jewels.  You can even fill one with food for the birdies.  Let frozey nature do its thing; when balloons are frozen - pop the balloon and enjoy the pretty baubles of winter :)

When I started my bauble making, it was snowing, then over night it rained turned warmish, then the next day super frozey, snow was gone & balloons were frozen to the table :)

I brought my baubles inside, they are so pretty slowly melting in the warmth of our home, they look like gigantic marbles.


(To avoid spraying water everywhere like I did; add a tiny bit of water/jewels in the balloon first, then add food coloring, then continue to fill balloon to the size you want)

SNOWMAN till summer!...

Just make a mini snowman & plop it in your freezer & giggle throughout the seasons. Every time you open your freezer you will get a cheery little reminder of the fun of winter :)

I got this super cute idea from some of Nyla's BFF's (Hey Gabby & Gianna!) It was such a cute, unexpected surprise when I opened their freezer last year, I, umm we just couldn't wait to make one for our home :)  Thanks guys for being our inspiration!!

It seems like were gonna get some more snow, looks like I might have a party in my freezer by the end of the season :)

Nyla also added to the freezer some snow for snowballs & snowy icecream, let the party begin!  

UPSCALE WATER BOTTLE FLOWER... DIY

Nyla & I went to a fun-filled artsy day at the Noyes Museum.  It was loaded with all kinds of fantastic artsy inspiration, here's one I just had to share!

Cut water bottle to create flower shape using the top of the water bottle, save cap, prime white and paint!   How easy, huh?! 

To create a "field of flowers" just attach flower to one side of chicken wire screen & screw the cap to the other side.

SUPERHERO STYLE DIY...

I grabbed some cool duck tape and with a BAM & POW I'm done :)


I just recently painted our kitchen white (yes, I know why white... well, I just couldn't decide on a color and I can glam it up with splashy accessories)  

So, I changed our beige light switches to white but the flip switch part is still boring beige. Who knows when I can get to switch that part out but now I don't have to worry about that for awhile :)

little game of Glad Book - easy DIY

I had these little pieces of paper that I cut out of an old, discarded book from the library.  (that's a future blog post crafty) I just couldn't throw them away, they looked so cute.  So, instead I turned them into a new book.

A Glad Book.  It's a little game of Glad - book. It's obvious all the things we should be glad about, every minute of every day.  Sometimes we forget the obvious.  

With this little book, it will help with that.  Just turn the page and circle a word that makes you glad.  
Then on the next white page write why. You can even draw a little picture.

To make this easy peasy Glad Book:
Cut out pages from an old, unused book. (you can make it any size, mines tiny and I used 6 pages)
Cut out white pages the same size (I had 5 pages)
Use a hole punch & make 3 holes (or staple)
Tie with pretty little ribbon


Early readers can be glad too, just customize book to their taste and have them search for fun words from a subject they enjoy.

Curvy... Magazine Style! ... Easy DIY

I love this crafty!! Especially since I have tons of old magazines laying around!

Just grab some old magazines or catalogs, some glue (I took mine from Nyla's crafty stash), fishing line or ribbon & if you really want to get fancy some stick on circles.

All you have to do is divide the magazine or catalog in half and fold & glue your pages until your done with both sides.  For my magazines, I folded 2 or 3 pages together, my catalogs were thicker so I just folded 1 page then glued.  (I wasn't exact either some I folded a different way depending on the colors of the page)

I had these perfect, loopy-accordian pedestals on my coffee table forever. I think they make a perfect little perch for our little bird friend :)

then I decided to hang them and 

I love this just as much! To me, it's like a curvy little kite floating in my living room...

I stuck little circle stickers all over my fishing line (one circle on each side of line) and tucked the line in one of the magazine folds and taped the line to secure it.
