SHCHEKOTIKI...!

No this word is not a type-o, it is a real word and I just love it!
Pronounced like, although I am still a little unsure
SHKEH-KO-TEE-KEE
Guess what it means?

It is the feeling you get when you figure something out!

Awesome, huh?  I fell in love with this word, I haven't really had a chance to throw it out there and use it too much so I put it on my mailbox.  I have a mailbox that is attached to our house that we don't use, only for leaving things for people when were not home, the real one is on the street.

A few friends said it kind of looked like I just threw some letters out there; also, someone had a hard time finding my house they thought it was a last name.

So, I took SHCHEKOTIKI off (bye fun word for now) and put this on

It fits our house.
Hey, I hope you all enjoy SHCHEKOTIKI (the feeling you get when you figure something out) this weekend! xxxxoooo Michelle

Naked People in the Snow...

Well, their statues...but I just love the idea, not that I would actually do it because well I really don't like the cold but it sure sounds fun, in a freezy type of carefree way.

We went to this awesome, awesome museum, check out their website http://www.groundsforsculpture.org/.  I just love this place, it is mainly an outside museum, and that’s where we saw these fun lovin freezies.  Since there was so much snow, we could not read who was the artist or the name of this sculpture (sorry).

Grounds for Sculpture is such a fun place for kids of all ages; some statues you can actually touch and climb on, its roaming acreage is filled with all kinds of  hidden treasures and pathways just waiting to discover.  It's a definite must see, for first timers I would recommend going when there is not so much snow so you can really check it out, maybe even one of the resident peacocks will be your tour guide (yes, I said peacocks as if this place wasn't cool enough!).

We originally went there to check out the ice sculpture demonstrations, truly great artist at work!  I'm always up for checking out people with cool talents.  There were 3 different artist at work at the same time.  We got a little side tracked with all the other amazing statues and did not see the full demonstration.

I would have loved to stay and get more info on the ice sculptures but Nyla had been sick the day before, she was getting cranky and she has started a growling thing that I am not too happy with so it was time for us to go!
Have an excellent day, enjoy the rest of the pictures and stay away from growling children!  xxxooo Michelle

AHHH, at the Car Wash woo...

I remember when Nyla was about 1½ years old; we thought Nyla would love the car wash.  Well, she didn’t.  She didn't at all!  Matter of fact, she screamed hysterically, kind of like if there was a tsunami coming our way, Nyla was trying everyway she could to bust out of her car seat (she was still in the harnass kind with all those buckles).  All we could do is wait until the car wash to be over; the minutes seemed like well very long minutes.  Andy and I looked at each other and thought we’ll never try that again!  We were in shock kinda, we thought this would be fun.

Sometime after we went to Costa Rica, as we were getting gas, the attendant cleaned our windshield.  OMG, the same crazy reaction.  We totally had forgotten about the carwash incident by this point.  WOW!  Trying explaining in Spanish that your daughter is permanently scarred from the car wash.

Many years have gone by and we tried it again.  She LOVES it!!!  She said she does not even remember the early carwash days.  Whew, thank goodness we didn’t permanently scar her at least from that!
I love it when I get to discover all over again everyday things, thanks Nyla I love you for that!

Ahhh, the car wash, it’s a simple little joy.

Here’s the words from that fun song, you know it, admit it your chair bouncing :)

Super, huge thanks to ROSE ROYCE for making this song and creating such fun memories for me from my childhood to growing up years to now my child's hood!

You might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya it's better that diggin' a ditch.
There ain't no tellin' who ya might meet. .
A movie star or may be even an Indian Chief.
(Workin' at the) car wash.
Workin' at the car wash yeah !
Come on and sing it with me car wash.
Get with the feelin' y'all car wash yeah.
Come summer the work gets kind a hard
This ain't no place to be if ya planned on being a star.
Let me tell you it's always cool
And the boss don't mind sometimes if ya act a fool.
At the car wash
Talkin' about the car wash yeah!
Come on and sing it for me car wash.
Car wash yeah!
(Work and work) Well those cars never seem to stop comin'.
(Work and work) Keep those rags and machines hummin'
(Work and work) my fingers to the bone
(Work) at five I can't wait 'til it's time to go home
Hey
get your car washed today.
Fill up and you don't have to pay.
Come on and give us a play.
Get a wash right away.
Car wash talkin' about the car wash yeah!
Woo car wash
Those cars never seems to stop comin'
Well
I say
Keep those rags and machines hummin'

CEVICHE....YUMMY!

One of the awesome perks to my husband’s job is we get the freshest of the freshest seafood and I just love seafood!!

When we have scallops one of my favorite ways to eat them is in CEVICHE, it just oozes summertime.  I love making this delicious treat in the wintertime just for that very reason, to remind me of those warmer, balmy, sundrenched days...

Here is our recipe we like to keep the heat for the individual’s taste but you can add a hot pepper of your choice.  This time we used this hot sauce, yummy and hot just a tiny droplet did it for me!

Ceviche Recipe
Chopped Fresh seafood, we used scallops but you can use raw shrimp, fish, ect.
Chopped onions, red & green peppers
Cilantro
Fresh squeezed limes to cover
Tiny bit of sugar
(a little 7-up, shhh this is the secret)
Chopped spicy peppers if you want

Try to cut everything even but no big deal if you don’t.  Taste, if yummy then let marinate, if too limey then add a little more sugar, if too sweet add more lime juice.

Serve in cute little cups, I like to use our Costa Rica shot glasses and with saltine crackers.

It’s a really easy recipe and as I said, you will be dreaming of those summertime days even if it’s frozey outside!  By the way, Nyla just loves ceviche!!

Heres to balmy days in the winter!

A wish for you...

As mentioned in my previous post, we were going to take an adventure on Friday.  The reality of a death of a former fisherman hit home and we were going to maximize our family adventure time, we were even going to take Nyla out of school.
Well, Thursday night Nyla got a fever so our adventure turned out to be staying home taking care of our baby.  You know what; we did have a good time, aside from Nyla’s fever that is.  Throughout the next couple of days, we had a reprieve from the everyday question, “Can I play with someone?”  We were kinder to each other; we snuggled more, we prayed more for our little one to feel better, we baked, we tried new recipes, we even made a homemade video involving our dogs (maybe you will see it one day); we read more, we laughed a whole lot more, things were done with kindness (instead of “I know you can get your own drink”), gave more Reiki, we watched less TV.
We really enjoyed being a family.  We did not wonder what we were going to do, or grump about household chores we did them or not and that was ok, we just enjoyed the moment and taking care of each other.  I am sorry Nyla had a fever but I am not sorry about our weekend, it was a family adventure of getting back to what makes our family work so good.

My wish for you today is allow yourself to enjoy, really enjoy your family!  (hopefully without sickness)   xxxxoooo Michelle

This hits home...

My husband is a Commercial Scallop Fisherman and this really hits home.  Our hearts and prayers go out to the Mears family, to survivor Trevor Horan and his family and to all the Commercial Fisherman who are a little shaken from this.
Jimmy Mears, captain of the fishing boat Mandy Ness died Tuesday night when his boat capsized a few miles off Barnegat Light, N.J.
Support Commercial Fisherman, they work hard and risk their lives to bring YOU food.

Andy, Nyla and I are taking Friday off to enjoy some family get away time.  Thank you for reading, this is another reminder to LIVE and ENJOY your life!

(click on link below then a little box will come up that says go to link, click that little box, theres probably an easier way I just don't know yet but this is an important news cast of what is happening in my world, thank you for taking the time to watch it, if that doesn't work then read article below)

NBCPhiladelphia.com - Ted Greenberg
Jimmy Mears, captain of the fishing boat Mandy Ness died Tuesday night when his boat capsized a few miles off Barnegat Light, N.J.
The Coast Guard confirms the 44-foot fishing boat, the “Mandy Ness,” capsized 10 miles east of Barnegat Light late Tuesday night.
Captain Jimmy Mears was caught under his capsized vessel and died, according to the Coast Guard.
"It's a tough thing to have to go through here," said Mears brother Rick Mears.
The Coast Guard says a rescue swimmer went underneath the hull and recovered Mears. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A second person, later identified as Trevor Horan, was rescued by Rick Mears who rushed to the scene after the distress call went out.
Horan is doing well, according to officials.
The Coast Guard is investigating what caused the boat to capsize. Mears' family believes another boat possibly hit the "Mandy Ness."

    I got nothing...

But some gum and a few ideas brewing... I thought this was a cool so I took a pic.
Remember your first time eating Juicy Fruit and how yummy it is!  I'm gonna have to let Nyla in on this.

    Be Dazzle Me BONBONS

It seems as if everyone I ran into on Friday had the blues and by the end of the day, it rubbed off on me and I kind of had them too!  I had some time to waste before picking Nyla up from school instead of vacuuming the car I decided to swing into a few shops to look around.  WOWEE ZOWWEE am lucky I found these guys.

I just love how someone takes an already delicious bonbon and glams it up!  Can’t be blue when you lay your eyes on these babies!
I started talking to Vickie.  She was so friendly.  She said wear your lip-gloss when you eat these.  Thats when I told her the name of my blog.  I found out she’s the mother of five grown boys!  (Holy guacamole!)  I just have to support the mommies, especially this one with such a yummy business!

Well the moment to eat these beauties wasn’t right until Sunday.  I told Nyla put some lip-gloss on I have a surprise for you!  Once she saw these, she gasped with excitement!

Nyla thought these bonbons should have some bedazzley hair; she’s really getting into styling these pictures.

    Can't wait any longer!

Blue is one of Nyla's favorite colors, I think blue glittery lipgloss looks great on her!  :)

I guess on this day—this morning THIS stay at home mom really is hanging out eating bonbons!  :)
To get your “morning” bonbons or any of her sweet treats go to The Vintage Chocolate & Sweet Shoppe, 657 E. Bay Ave., Manahawkin, NJ www.chocholateshopnj.com

ART IS GREAT with a twist...

I bought this beautiful painting, Maud Allen’s Music Room by Herbert Davis Richter.  (It was one of my thrift store finds)  I thought it would be perfect for Nyla's bedroom.  I thought she would love it, I was proud of myself.  She hated it.  She said there were no people or anything living in it.  So I put it in our kitchen.  She doesn't like it there either.  :(

I thought about what Nyla said about nothing living in the picture so I decided to add Nyla to the picture.  I thought what I did was funny and spectacular.

Nyla didn't.  She adventually got a laugh out of it, but not as much as I did.  I guess the beauty of art is in the eye of the beholder.  I think I'm gonna add me to the picture maybe she will like it more, or do you want a famous painting I got one, cheap! haha

    Hey Baby its cold outside!

Back to my inspiration drive, we wound up in Philadelphia, at The Academy of Natural Sciences www.ansp.org .  Cool museum filled with dinosaurs, insects, butterflies, an archeology dig for kids, etc. and two giggling girls.

As we were getting in the car, we noticed that across the park somebody was handing out food to people, earlier in the drive we past homeless people sleeping in a park.

It was going to be the coldest night yet.  As the bitter wind was wiping about Nyla immediately said here Mommy, give them my hat.  Her spontaneous generosity made my heart melt!!  I couldn't give them her hat at that time.  I would be like some crazy lady running up to a group of strangers (mostly men and no children) saying, take my daughter’s koala bear hat.

This situation and these people inspired me because they are in need and asked for help and people gave it.  I am one of those people who just does not like to ask for help.  My inspiration came from people I did not know, a situation I watched from afar.  Those people did not see me but they touched me... how many times have I been an inspiration or a disappointment to someone from afar?

It is cold, people are in need all year, but if you have any warm clothes to help make someone a little more snuggly please do.  I am.

    Inspiration found...

Yesterday, we went on an inspiration drive and we found sooo many things.  When I go on these inspiration drives/walks, the inspirational things are not always the obvious big things more than likely its little things that I would not normally notice unless I am making myself aware to find them.  So that makes me think inspirational things are always there for us we just have to embrace them.  So I will.

I want to tell you first about an e-mail I got last night from someone who inspires me before it expires.  She is a fun loving, inspirational author/speaker plus so much more  and she's offering a FREE phone class to talk about her program called WINS this week, Go to www.planetsark.com to register.  It’s at 9:00 pm this Thursday for us East coasters.  You know what; she is the one who first introduced me to inspirational walks.  Her WINS program is geared for authors but even if  that’s not your thing, listen to the call because her calls are always filled with positive good vibe energy and you’ll end the call pumped up for dream achieving! (That's her below doesn't she just look fun!)
    Susan (AKA SARK)

My next inspirational thing came in this little tiny package.  They were fluttery little sprinkles of snowflakes!  We saw them driving, it was just enough to make you feel the prettiness of snowflakes and want to touch them.  Matter of fact, Nyla, and one of her bff’s, Stella were trying to roll down the windows to catch one on their tongues.  The snowflakes were gone in an instant but not the feeling of excitement that they bring of bigger snow days to come and the realization that each one is an individual and has its own sparkle.  It got me thinking more in depth about individuality.  People are like snowflakes; filled with their individuality and sparkle.  Kinda silly to say but true, sometime when your shoveling snow and after a while it doesn’t look so pretty you have to really dig deep to realize its sparkle and sometimes people are like that too but we all have it, so it’s up to us as an individual or whole to find that sparkle to keep us going!

I want MommysPinkieLipgloss to be a place where we realize our sparkle.  Any ideas I would love to hear them!

    xxxxooooo

oh, I'll write more about the other inspirational things another time, I'm gonna go enjoy the day now.

100 Pennies are worth a dollar so everyone give a holler!

So, heres a shout out to pennies! The forgotten penny, today we remember you!

find a penny pick it up all day long you'll have good luck :)
